Tracking complex movements is a critical component of research and computer-generated imagery (CGI) in movies. In this case the researchers are interested in capturing the movements of the skin.

Fluorescent spheres were used as markers for tracking changes in the shape of soft deformable objects in 3D during indentation. A high-precision micro-robot arm was developed to provide the indentation from down below. The blue illumination helps to highlight the marker positions, which are captured using a set of cameras.
