The Camel Within

This is a section from a very high resolution microCT image of a urinary bladder tissue. The bladder organ contains layers of dense, smooth muscle cells, and these cells communicate using specialised neurons. A detailed map of theses neurons is required for a better understanding of how the bladder is regulated and controlled - to generate this map, careful imaging and modelling are needed.
In this image, interestingly enough, everything is arranged in such a way that it resembles the face of a camel.
