Non-cancerous thyroid tumours (goitre) can squeeze the airways and make breathing difficult. CT scans are used to assess goitre size and airway narrowing, but neck position can affect the assessment. Here, CT scans of the same patient taken in two positions are overlaid with computer simulations of the airflow. The airway shape was mapped from the CT scans and used to create physical models of the airway by 3D printing.
