For neurosurgeons, visualising a 3D representation of the brain from 2D slices while under the stress of surgery can quickly become a harrowing task. With state-of-the-art 3D printing techniques, we have the opportunity to revolutionise surgical planning, quickly transforming MRI scans of a patient into individual 3D phantom models which can be referred to in the operating theatre. Created from MRI data, this sculpture captures cerebral intricacies such as the main arterial blood supply in the brain, corpus callosum and occipitofrontal fasciculus.
