Rat ovaries, made up of a network of blood vessels, ducts, and many other things, can look like miniature brains. Micro-computed tomography lets us image the female gonad at a high resolution and peer through its curious structures in a 3D reconstruction. Adjusting colours, viewing angles, and transparency can create fabulous scenes. In this colourful display, the oviduct looks like a genie emanating between the uterine horn and the rest of the ovary.
